Embody by Connie Sobczak

The Long & The Short of it:

Embody is written by one of the cofounders of The Body Positive, a non-profit organization that has been working for decades to help people improve their relationship with their body. Connie describes how to practice five key “competencies” (Reclaim Health; Practice Intuitive Self-Care; Cultivate Self-Love; Declare Your Own Authentic Beauty; Build Community). I most appreciate the suggested activities (such as journaling/illustration prompts, meditations) at the end of each chapter to help practice each competency.

Recommended Reading for:

Teens (high school and older) and adults with body image struggles. It’s also helpful for parents who want to improve their own relationship with food and their body.
